The unforgettable day

Raju Bhaiya took us on our first drive to Infosys. Roads were quiet; it was peace all around, broad, empty roads throughout. No traffic, no pollution, no dust, what else one can ask for? It was such a serene place to live. A dream city for all the people belonging to the over crowded, polluted metros.

From about a kilometre away, we could see the Infosys campus buildings. Had it been Delhi or Bangalore, it was nearly impossible. I loved that slight glance and wondered how it would really be? We reached the colossal Mysore DC, apparently Asia’s biggest training centre. My eyes were wide open, did not know what to do. I have never worked with such a big organization before.

We reached Gate 1, where all the BPO Trainers enter from. We were handed over our gate pass and were directed to SDB4 where all the trainings take place for BPO. It took about 15 mins of walking to reach there. I almost had a nervous breakdown thinking I will be training here. Not that I wasn’t confident about my training skills but was jolted by the infrastructure, hats off to Mr. Narayan Murthy and his team.

I called Rishi to find out where I was supposed to go in SDB4. Trust me I could hardly understand about what he said. He said something like Nagoya, A wing for me and Kawasaki, C wing for Shikha. I wondered if Infosys was an Indian brand or Japanese. Why such complicated names? We struggled for sometime to reach there. It was the first day of training and I could not find my trainees. I entered Nagoya and found another trainer already training there. Hi, “I am Priyanka, Rishi asked me to train in this room”, I introduced myself to Imtiyaaz, a tenure trainer from another vendor organization. He was taking a re-training batch and I sat in his class assuming I was supposed to observe his class. After few minutes, I got to speak to Shikha and she told me she is taking her class and it was then I got worried and left that class to search for my trainees. I decided to go on the 4th floor where all the internal team sits. Bismi, one of my colleagues from Shradha helped me a lot in my initial days and she escorted me there to meet Rishi. Apparently, he had left early that day and I was again going bananas as there was no one else to guide me.

At last, Namrata came to my rescue. She is one of the internal trainers from Infosys and immediately after our introduction she informed me that my trainees were waiting for me in Yokohama and Auri Arun, vendor trainer, is taking my class as they could not find me. I ran to Yokohama in A wing and found two trainers and about three batches with 24 trainees in each enjoying with Auri. Auri and Divya, trainers from Evolv had a combined class as it was the first day for Divya as well and all the three batches started on 7th April. Auri was facilitating the introduction class with all the trainees and I went and sat for sometime.

I spent some 3-4 hours in the campus and took permission from Rishi to leave for the day as I was hell tired. Shikha and I left for the day and reached our clumpsy room again. My eyes were full of tears and I had decided to go back to Delhi as this was too much for me to handle initially. In spite of being peace lover, I could not digest the fact of staying in this city alone for next three months. Thankfully, Shikha was there else I would have returned the same day without any second thoughts.
