Diwali Mischief
Sorry guys for being away for quite some time now. I was preoccupied so couldn’t really blog. A lot of things happened in the meanwhile.
I have been in Bangalore for a month and away from parents for about 6 months now. Trust me there’s nothing like distance that makes us value people and things. I never thought I would miss my parents, my siblings so much ever. However, now I know how it feels. I experienced it too.
I think I have spoken a lot about my school memories already but I have plenty of more exciting stories to share. School memories are never ending. As Diwali is around the corner, I remember one incidence. We used to have street plays in school performed by NGO’s on “Say no to Crackers” theme.
It was a week before Diwali and student’s council was instructed to keep a check if students are bursting crackers in the premises. Assembly was held and this group of boys and girls performed a street play. It started with a small introduction as to why we all should not burst crackers and just then we here a “BOOM” from the corridors. It was damn embarrassing for the entire student’s council. Teachers stared at all of us and we immediately ran towards the corridors. Unfortunately, we did not see anyone there. After a pause, the play started. They showed how crackers are made by small, young kids in Sivakasi. These kids ruin their lives and end up doing nothing throughout just because they want livelihood and we need fireworks to celebrate any occasion. Without fireworks, Diwali seems to be incomplete. Exchanging wishes and gifts is not on our mind but it’s only crackers that makes Diwali special and auspicious.
The play proceeded well and what they enacted was quite convincing to the audience to stop bursting crackers. The audience was sad and quiet and completely engrossed. “BOOM”, another sound from the first floor. The entire school was laughing. We pulled up our socks and ran all around the school to keep things in control. Somehow some losers don’t understand the responsibilities the captains and vice captains had during such intense moments. (I felt I was on border protecting my country) They want to create ruckus for no good reason.
However, we were no less; we knew where these idiots would be hiding. The best hide out place was the “LOO”. We guarded the place and I was close to steps near the boys washroom. A senior from 12th grade came running from inside and I tried to stop him. To add to my luck, the moment he stepped out another cracker blew. I tried to stop him but he did not stop as I was a junior and he cared a damn about me. He escaped but forgot he was messing with Priyanka Jain, I mean the bond. Hehe.
I remembered his face and fortunately I had a good memory to recall he was from which class. It was lunch break and I met him again. Look at our man’s guts; he was again heading to the loo to burst another one. Just then I stopped him and asked not to do it again else I would report to teachers about it. Being a senior, he thought he could boss around and get away with it. I warned him again and he said, “jo karma hai kar le, tujhe to main school ke bahar dekh lunga”. (do whatever you want, I will see you outside the school) I lost it. I yelled and said, “aapko bhi jo karma hai karlo and don’t forget to see me outside the school” (do whatever you want) I was a part of student’s council and knew he can do nothing about it.
I reported it to my teachers as back of mind I was somewhat scared. He was a senior and was famous for his mischief. He could have harmed me in any possible way. However, he was punished and I safely went back home.
