Unceased Memories..

Life at GFS was splendid. I made so many friends from second standard though I don’t remember names of all however my small memory could retain some at least. My first friend apart from Reshu was Jaya Srivastava. We had a great bonding and we were best of friends until she decided to move out of GFS and join some random School. I tried to stay in touch with her a lot of times after that, unfortunately with time we moved on and had a different set of friends to hang out with. I felt a li’l bad as I have stupid tendency of getting people close to my heart. :P

Like, Nitco Model, I participated in a lot of extra curricular activities here as well. I never was afraid of stage. I remember GFS was celebrating its Annual day in Siri Fort Auditorium and there were couple of plays, dance and singing happening. I was playing the role of a tree in one of the plays. I loved that role as during rehearsals I had nothing to do but watch others singing and dancing. I observed them so intensely that I mastered their lines and use to recite it along. Thanks to this I was thrown out of the play as teachers thought I was not giving others a chance to perform properly and the losers performing felt complex as they could not memorize their role better than me. (I had a great memory!)

This was all the more good because now I was watching Annual day sitting with my parents in the audience and as always munching something or the other the entire time. :P My brother played a role of a soldier, my parents felt proud and looked at me in a disgusting fashion. (As if I cared, I just focussed on my wafers and some more junk)

I grew older and was active in all kinds of sport. (I tell you, I was an all rounder) I played Basket Ball, Volley Ball, skating, kho-kho (a sissy game our teachers used to make all girls play and more than focussing on game we all focussed on our skirts as boys had all their eyes on us), throw ball, apparently was given to girls believing they don’t have similar strength as boys to play Volley Ball. I told you, our system, our thinking sucks. I also participated in inter school yoga competitions (I can’t buy this myself, look at me now. I wish I continued doing that.. :P) Not to forget, my passion for painting. I have participated in a lot of competitions throughout my school life and luckily was able to win a couple of them as well. I will write a separate post on this as it was, it is and will always be my passion.

I became very good friends with Varun Arya over the years. He still is my best buddddyyyy. Love you Varun. Both of us had been house on fire when it came to Science Olympiad’s. Varun and I have been friends from 5th or 6th Standard. We stood by each other in all good and bad times, he had been a great support to me throughout. We use to participate in a lot of extra curricular activities together. During that time, we became friends with Parag Khosla and one more dude was added to the group. We rocked!

I miss those eeky School picnics to Nehru Park, Sanjay Park, Lodhi Garden etc usually started with some informative tours to Nehru Planetorium, Science Museum, Pragati Maidan, Indira Gandhi Memorial, Mahatama Gandhi memorial, Nehru Memorial so on and so forth. Back then, we were so excited the day picnic was announced. Classroom discussions were just limited to who will bring what to eat that day. After every class we eagerly waited for the teacher to leave so that we can continue with our planning. What days man..!
